Very little of it, by design. The city utility covers 33065 in the middle of town. The Coral Springs Improvement District covers 33071 in the south. The North Springs Improvement District covers 33076 on the north side. Royal Utility covers Coventry, Coral Trace, Carriage Pointe and Ramblewood East, plus the Royal Eagle and Riverside Square plazas. Ramblewood, Cypress Run, Eagle Trace, Turtle Run and Wyndham Lakes all sit inside those service areas. Septic tanks here belong to pockets of older homes.
Your water bill tells you which you have. A sewer charge means you are on a main. No sewer charge, plus a tank lid somewhere in the yard, means septic. When a septic property ties into a sewer main, the old tank gets pumped out and abandoned under a permit. Septic permits in Coral Springs go through the Florida Department of Health in Broward County. It handles new, repair and abandonment permits and inspects the work. Drains slow down and toilets gurgle. Outside, a wet strip of grass shows up over the field. Pump the tank before the rainy months, and keep sprinklers off the drain field. University Drive, Sample Road and Wiles Road are the main commercial corridors. The Walk on University Drive lists 15 dining and dessert spots. The city is moving to expand its downtown zoning along Sample Road and University Drive. That stretch runs from The Walk to NW 96th Street, with buildings up to eight stories. Restaurant kitchens along those roads run grease traps. A trap fills with fats, oils and grease, and a full one backs up floor drains. We pump the trap, scrape the walls and wash it out, on a schedule or on call.
The city is flat, so sewage often has to be pumped uphill. The Coral Springs Improvement District alone lists 43 lift stations for that job. Private ones serve plazas and HOA communities built below the main. Grease builds up on the floats until the alarm goes off. We pump out the wet well and clean it.
